        Thank you both. Now I need to hone my identification skills to properly identify the tree the pine cone fell from! I am in Central Brittany, France – not sure if that’s sub mediterranean ? :D

          Thank you both. They were not all in the same place – but in the same locality. Next time I will take an example and show the pores and slice them!

            Hello Hilary. Whilst you’re waiting for someone more knowledgeable than me to come along and confirm this, you might want to look up Laccaria amethystina – Amethyst Deceiver. They are beautiful aren’t they?
