Specific website! If I find fungi on bryos I will look on this site, definitely. I’ll also post it here, of course, for confirmation! ;)

Thanks all! I will try my best to use all the scientific names in this forum (I think I do it a lot of the time anyway). :)

I’ve never seen Puccinia urticata so purple! Is this normal?

    Hi

For general staining Basidia, Cystidia etc. You could also try PlaqSearch by TePe It comes in 30 ml dropper bottles and is available from a well known on-line supplier

It works very well as long as your sections are not to thick and you do not leave them soaking in the stain. It appears to randomly stain different tissues different shades making them stand out really well. If you leave the sections in the stain too long it stains everything the same colour and is less effective.

    Thanks!!! Added to my list!

Thanks Mike, that does look likely. If it or others nearby grow I’ll check for the stem ring.

Digital cameras often have GPS logging, so if you have one it might be worth it to take it along just to find out the GPS ref.

Beautiful photo! It’s a shame I’ve only found it at one site (Woods Mill), and no great specimens were near the path, the patch of nettles was inside the reed bed! This is the (poor) photo I got:

Thanks all for your input, it’s all a bit confusing for me though! I’ll look at your comments in more detail over the weekend, when I have time. I will look at the links also. Thanks again!

Thank you very much everyone for all your help!!! :D

In conclusion we’re currently thinking of purchasing an Apex Researcher, I think it’s not too expensive but it will suit my needs!
