      My first Amanita (?) of the season, next to our drive way. White gills, narrowly spaced. Growing near Birch and Oak. Possibly Amanita rubescens?

        Could also be Amanita excelsa var spissa – Grey Spotted Amanita.

          Thanks Mike, that does look likely. If it or others nearby grow I’ll check for the stem ring.
