    Hi all,

I cant fathom this from macro characters. Help/steer please.

Light brown lightly fibrillose cap, with yellowing fibrils at the centre, decurrent gills it seems, some lilac tints in the flesh upper stem, creamy gills – not been able to get a spore print so far – clear ring which is white above and yellow below, stem is light brown with pinkish tints and darkening browner at base, but with yellow possible veil remnants but also cream flesh when cut and it has a slight bulbous base.

Acidic mixed woodland near Sheffield yesterday – mainly Beech, Oak and Birch.

    Thanks

    Ken

This is a well disguised Honey Fungus (white spores: a Cortinarius will have brown spores).

Thanks a lot Roy, Armillaria – that makes sense. Bugger! 😳

I didn’t pick it, didn’t ask either as we were so busy……….

    Never mind!

    Cheers

    Ken
