Hello. This is growing in the middle of a cut grass track amongst pine. Because of the pine from my first glance I thought Sparassis crispa, but something didn’t feel right and is continuing to puzzle me. The colour seems greyish/pinkish rather than creamy. The flesh/structure seems very pliable, floppy even. There is quite a pronounced (to me slightly bitter/unpleasant smell). I’ve checked in Philips but the Ramaria examples don’t seem right either. I’m posting a photo of it plus a single piece that I broke off. I’m also posting a Sparassis crispa photo that I took somewhere else to show the difference. Thanks for any opinions/pointers. Should mention that I’m in Brittany NW France.

Hi, this looks like one of the Sparassis species.

Looks like S,crispa, but I’m not familiar with that genera at all.

      Regards,

      Mike,
