I’m not very familiar with rusts but I saw this on a species of Allium (Spring Onion I think) in the garden today. I believe it’s the common onion rust Puccinia allii. The lesion is around 0.7mm.

I am not an expert on Rusts but ‘rustbucket’ may comment on your post. Looks like P.allii occurs on a number of Allium species

late looking at this one Mark – sorry. Leek, Chives and onion rusts have been a problem for many a year and over this time people have suggested revisions but the old system is still adopted. Looks like P. allii to me. Well done.

Thanks for the input Rustbucket, it was a “ferral” onion growing in a rockery, it had quite a tough stem so probably not a Spring Onion. I don’t really know my onions.

      Thanks Adam.
