    Hello,

this looks very much like Serpula lacrymans, the most dangerous fungus concerning destroying of built wood. It would be very important to let this check, wether it is this species or only the more or less harmless Serpula himantoides.

    best regards,

Your picture shows a fruiting body with a wrinkled or ‘merulioid’ fertile surface.

It looks to me like Serpula lacrymans or dry rot. Try googling some images of this species to see the likeness.

The fungus itself grows in damp wood and can then spread to dry wood, causing lots of damage.

I would advise you to get a specialist in to sort this out.

    Good luck.

Just seen that my post overlapped with that of Andreas. My advice that it requires a specialist to investigate this still stands because the extent of the existing rot will have to be investigated and remedial action taken.
