This bracket fungus is growing on a lime tree at Draycote Water near Rugby. It is about 8cms diameter and depth about 12 cms. It resembles Phellum pomaceus of which there are several examples on site growing on fruit trees. However, I am unaware whether P. pomaceus also grows on lime or whether I am “barking up the wrong tree”.

Apologies for posting prematurely – obviously I would welcome any thoughts or guidance in narrowing down identification. Many thanks.

Thanks Steve. I take it from the link that Phellum pomaceus has not been recorded as growing on Lime (Tilia). I understand Ganoderma australe regularly grows on Lime and therefore assume this is a much more likely identity. Many thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Bob
