    Hi Folks,

Just going through some Ben Alder material from high elevation snowbed-type area and came across this little doozie of a thing, which seems to match Frigidopyrenia – sort of. There is only one specimen in our collection here at Edinburgh, and it doesn’t look much like my collection.

My specimen: photobiont cyanobacterial 2-3×3.5-4um; squamules 0.1-0.3mm wide; perthiecia 60-80 microns (!); asci bitunicate 60×16-17u; spores 3-septate 37-40x5u. So all in all quite a bit smaller than F. bryopsila.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks

    Becky

Changed my mind– just really thick walled asci, not bitunicate!

    Epigloea?
