      Hello,

      I found this growing in one of my orchid pots on Douglas fir wood. It did not seem to grow on the bark. I know little about fungi, but it links similar to a tulasnella species. Could it be T. Calospora?

      I am in the California Bay Area, though the fungus may have arrived on the bark from where it was harvested. The wood sliver is about 3 cm long.

        Hello. Your fungus does not look like a species of Tulasnella, which typically produce very thin, smooth, violaceous to grey fruitbodies (when they are visible at all). I would suggest it’s just a conifer wood-rotting corticioid species of some kind, in a genus like Hyphodontia, Brevicellicium, Trechispora, or somesuch. It’s not, unfortunately, going to be identifiable without a microscope…
