      The condenser in my Olympus CH20 is quite badly marked. I believe it is an Abbe type condenser. So I was wondering how best to deal with it. Are there other condensers that would fit, or would it have to be one from this Olympus series? Would I be able to replace it with a better condenser, eg an aplanatic condenser and would it be worth it?

      Does anyone know a source for such items? Besides ebay.

        For information – sevice/repair manuals, specifications etc. for olympus microscopes, worth looking at Alan Woods’ site http://www.alanwood.net/

        Might give some dimensions of the condenser.

          Thanks David, couldn’t get the part number, although I have part numbers for the CH30 and CH40 which look the same.

          I might end up cobbling something together. It’s not a major issue, just see some artefacts when set up for Kohler illumination. I get a halo around spores at x1000, and wonder if a better condenser would help with resolution and / or reducing this halo.
