      SW Ireland 2012 – this seems to be a Roselliniella sp. on Pertusaria hymenea but that’s as far as I can get, though LGBI3 mentions an undescribed Roselliniella on Pertusaria pertusa.

      Shall I post it to you Paul or would it be better to contact Paul Diederich?

        No idea about that, but I do know the Roselliniella sp on Pertusaria pertusa. I must collect some more and get some good images, and maybe also send it to either Paul, but I have these:

        The spores, on Pertusaria pertusa, on Hornbeam, Roydon Woods, New Forest

        The fungus is local on Pertusaria pertusa on mature to veteran smooth bark trees in pasture woodland and parkland from Sussex to Devon. Seems to be a species of older stands, but maybe this is just where I lichenize most.

          Thanks Neil – and identification is so much more straightforward with spores!

          When I posted the query on the FB Lichenicolous page Wolfgang von Brackel suggested perhaps a Roselliniopsis (and Roselliniopsis tartaricola is recorded on Pertusaria leioplaca).

          However what must be the “apical phialidic synanamorphs” on this one appeared slightly different and seemed to more resemble those shown in Lichenicolous Fungi vol.2 page 355 for Roselliniella stereocaulorum than the Roselliniopsis tartaricola illustration on page 356?

          But I am so totally out of my depth with these!!!
