Today is the festival of Robigalia in the Roman calendar
The Roman god (Robigus) and goddess (Robigo) are celebrated with feasting and sacrifice.
Hopefully this will ward off attacks of rust on the crops and lead to a good harvest.
Many mycologists (including me) find rusts and their curious lifestyles fascinating so I hope that we see and record more rare and interesting rusts this year.
But I’d rather they left my leeks and broad beans alone.
