      Hi! I’d love to know what this little mushroom is please?

      It was about 5cm tall with a 3cm diameter cap, growing in woodchips in a forest. Had a waxy/sticky cap. Not much left of the gills as a slug was underneath, eating them. It was growing between several large clumps of honey fungi. Location North Buckinghamshire.

      Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

            Peachysteve’s ID is spot-on.

            Your example, and habitat description given is very typical of Leratiomyces ceres – Redlead Roundhead.

            I actually spotted several of these less than a week ago growing amongst fallen decaying small twiggy debris, at Ainsdale Pine Woods (near Southport, Lancashire). – The archetypal “sandy pine forest” habitat for this species.
