      I found this today on the North Yorkshire coast, in an old Alum mine site near Kettleness. Very exposed, growing in the shale near some grasses and heather. No idea what it could be. Google Lens suggests Neolecta Irregularis – but is that possible in the UK?

      Approx 5 cm high.

        Hi, and welcome to UK Fungi.

        I’d suggest Clavaria argillacea – Moor Club.

        I think your example may be just slightly more mature than these, which I photographed (in a sandy dune-slack area on the Lancashire coast near Formby), several years ago: –

          I’m sure Mike is right with C. argillacea. Neolecta irregularis is a wonderful name to come up with, however, but is American (as presumably is Google Lens). Neolecta vitellina is European, but rare and in native spruce forests (so not in UK).
