Looks like this one is flying below the radar!
I’ve been hoping that someone with more experience of the particular species might respond!
I’ve looked at the pics a few times and keep coming back to the conclusion that it’s not Phaeolus schweinitzii. – But I can’t suggest what it might be! 😳
Whether it looks wrong because there is some gravitropism/geotropism going on with the fruitbody I don’t know – but it just doesn’t look like any P. schweinitzii I’ve seen.
For what it’s worth, I’m thinking that if it was P. schweinitzii that the fresh growth would (?) be a more “vibrant” yellowy-orangey-brown in colour?
(Certainly the ones I’ve seen have been).
