      Another from my rummage through old specimens from SW Ireland – this one on Parmeliella thriptophylla, collected 2009.

      The closest I can get is Lichenopeltella pannariacearum though it doesn’t entirely match the FGBI description?

      The asci were 8-spored, spores very faintly 1-septate, 15-18 x 5-6 µm and multi-guttulate but I wasn’t aware of any setae present and couldn’t see “the upper cell with three pairs of lateral flexuous hair-like setae inserted together near the septum”.

        As long as the spore measurements tie in, this must be correct. The spore appendages are really difficult to see, even with a research grade microscope.

          Yes, spore measurements match with those given on the FGBI website (I got briefly lucky with the description but the images wouldn’t load)

            The FGBI account just contained a description, no images. Again, if there is plenty of material I’d be happy to try to search for the setulae…

            The Solenopsora material arrived this morning, thank you. Images will follow and the specimen will end up at Kew. I’ll message you if further documentation is needed.

              There’s a tiny bit of the host thallus left, but as it took two attempts to find spores I’m not sure if any Lichenopeltella pannariacearum remains – will send in hope…..

              Glad the other specimen arrived safely!
