Dorset UK. Pycnidia on a Punctelia borreri lobe, most conidia flask-shaped, hyaline, 6-10 x 5-6 µm. LGBI3 mentions an unidentified Abrothallus (including Vouauxiomyces anamorph) on Punctelia borreri and I’m wondering if this might be it?

If so does anyone know if its been described and named yet?

I do have a collection of Abrothallus from Punctelia borreri from Dorset in 2004, with apothecia. I fished out the specimen and found I had sent it to Paul Diederich, he returned the specimens and commented that he had not found much Abrothallus on Punctelia and to wait for the revision of the genus! I guess we will find out when the volume of Flora of Lichenicolous Fungi with Abrothallus is published!

I had a look on the specimen but could not find pycnidia

Thanks Neil for your reply and for checking your specimen – I’ve got a little bit of mine left so I’ll see if I can find any apothecia
