      Rust on the flower buds of a Bramble (Rubus) sp.

      Sorry for the over-exposed image. I think this species is usually evident on the stems at this time of year but I’m not sure about on the buds, which is why I’d like to confirm it.

        I’ve never seen the Rusts on Rubus flower buds. As you probably know there are 3 potential Rusts – K.uredinis, Phragmidium violaceum and P.bulbosum which may all be present at this time of the year. I’m not an expert on these but I would suggest it is a microscope job to be sure which.
