I’ve done a bit of internet checking and it certainly resembles T. steidleri. Even better, the decaying oak log was infested with Stereum hirsutum, albeit at the other end.
S Hirsutum just visible at far end of log (T steidleri visible in the foreground on left log, between two clumps of moss).
