Thoughts on identification? umbonate cap – on the lawn, biggest ones are 14cm across … looks like some sort of webcap, but unusual that it’s on a lawn?

    Any thoughts?

      Weeping Widow?

yes that looks likely – my identification guide shows them as having a much more convex cap – but then explains it flattens with a distinct umbo..also says max diameter of 10 cm but some of mine are larger, nonetheless I think its a weeping widow.

It also has a very distinct mushroom(earthy) smell – i.e it smells like cultivated mushrooms.

The most distinctive feature is black droplets on the gills, hence the name. You can’t always see them though.
