      Another puzzling Cladonia I found a few years ago in the Lieberoser Heide in Brandenburg, Germany. It stood out on a cloudy day by its whitish color. Otherwise, it looks a little bit like Cladonia subulata. Colleagues of mine did TLC with it and found squamatic acid, which could point to C. sulphurina. Sadly, I didnt get the sample back til now. So, I cant do tests with it right now. Back then I noted: K-, KC-, P+ bright yellow, UV+. Please see attached pictures.

        Not very sure on this, the Pd+ yellow is odd if it only had squamatic acid. Was there usnic acid present, if not then C. sulphurina seems unlikely. If it has holes in the axils, and squamatic acid then, some sort of overgrown Cladonia glauca approaching Cladonia cenotea might be worth considering. Otherwise?
