      A rather tentative shout as I only have conidia.

      On Betula with Trentepohlia umbrina (photobiont?).

      Pycnidia 0.1 mm diameter. Conidia 4.4-5.7 x 1.2-1.9 µm.

      Any pointers towards a genus would be good.

        Keys out using the LGBI2 sterile corticolous key as an Opegrapha, which is what I would have thought from the pictures. Ends at the couplet:

        Quote:

        Conidia 5-8 × 1-2 μm; thallus dull olive to red-brown ……………………………. Opegrapha rufescens

        Conidia of two types: 4-7 × 1-1.5 μm or 7-9 × 0.7 μm; thallus dull grey-olive .. Opegrapha niveoatra

        Neither quite match, but the thallus colour is more like Opegrapha rufescens (which is now called Pseudoschismatomma rufescens), but this would need fertile material to confirm, I could easily be wrong.

          Got lost in the keys. Happy with that with a question mark, it will be useful reference (not sure about the new name though!).

            Just to round this one off; I found another sample – fertile.

            It keys nicely to Opegrapha niveoatra.
