Mycoporum antecellens makes much more sense (and present on three other assorted twigs I’ve checked so far from that batch).

Is it possible that the small spore size relates to the thallus/perithecium size as the twig it was on was very thin and less than 2mm in diameter?

Thanks for replying Neil – but I thought Lichenoconium lichenicola had simple conidia and it was Lichenodiplis lichenicola (on Rinodina sophodes) which had light-brown 1-septate conidia?

You might be in luck with a specimen as I saved the twig it was on and looking at the twig again there are possibly a couple smaller perithecia near the one posted here……..

I only saved the twig as next to the possible Rebentischia were raised, whitish pycnidia on a thin greenish-white thallus (C-,K-,UV-(mauve) K/UV whitish).

The pycnidia were topped by +/- globular ‘blobs’ containing +/- globular or pyriform conidia, c2.5 µm – which I’m still failing to identify!

Thanks Neil – the lack of granules in the epithecium, but their presence in the margins confused me!

However checking the Italic 8 descriptium for M. dispersa it includes:

Thalline exciple corticate, obscured by granules insoluble in K

though that’s not mentioned in the LGBI3 account

Thank you Mark and Neil – I came across 2021 photos of lichens on the same or nearby decorticated pine after posting and realised there was a patch of fertile Chrysothrix flavovirens on it then!

Not many apothecia in the bit I collected yesterday and sadly no sign of Minutophoma chrysophthalmae!
