Sorry, I only read your comment late last night so I’ll have to do the soaking today and put the specimen in the fridge tonight. I hope I get good results!

Great photos!
How does one go about getting photos of the conidia and the ascospores??
James
No spores dropped last night, so I’m going to try again. I’ve cut a few slits in the fruitbody and placed it face down on the slide – fingers crossed!!!
The presence of a possible immature spore in my other micrographs seems encouraging…
My next step will be to try the spores tomorrow and hopefully that leads somewhere. The tree was definitely Weeping Willow, I knocked the twig off the tree myself (accidentally)!

I just snuck out now before the sun sets, the fruit body did turn flesh coloured!
I’m so glad I didn’t have to look at it under the microscope, I’m just starting out with that sort of thing!!

Can you make out anything from these photos?
No, the sample is too think. You only need a minute piece at a time, barely visible with the naked eye.
Awwww…. Tomorrow then
Take a piece of the twig and place it over a glass slide raised on two matchsticks (or something similar)
Is this what you had in mind? Is it too high?
