I think it is Amethyst deceiver but don’t know what is causing the abnormal growth.

Too chunky I think for Amanita. For Amanita, its important to look at the base. If you dont want to lift it, you can clear debris away from the base to see volva or bulb etc. Also hard to gauge spore colour from the gill photo. The top of the stem looks like is has a brown spore deposit on it but that might be a veil remnant. A spore print would be good. Sorry, I can’t help more.

If you get something rare or unusual, your local recorder / fungi group might be interested and might be willing to do microscopy for you.

Anything with a cap and stem could be called a mushroom, its not a scientifically defined term. Do you mean Agaricus?

St George’s Mushroom is one with white gills. for example.

This looks like a Tricholoma atrosquamosum or T.squarrulosum. Spores need measuring to be sure. Tricholomas or Knights are typically chunky, with white, adnate gills.

What part of the UK is this?

It’s a fairly old clump of Honey Fungus, perhaps Armillaria ostoyae growing on buried wood or roots.

Welcome to our community.

I’m glad you read the FAQs. It will be tricky to get IDs based on these photos for that very reason. No gills shots, photos not high enough resolution etc. I would guess no4 is a Marasmius species.

Not 100%, but looks good for Amanita gemmata, yes. The white spot is what is left of the veil.

There are many ways to get to an ID. If you are stuck, always start with a spore print as most books are arranged by spore colour so you have fewer pages to scroll through.

Inocybe is wrong for a grassland habitat as it is strictly mycorrhizal with trees. Unless there are trees close by,

I would be thinking Entoloma. A spore print would narrow it.
