A big thanks should go to Michael Valentine aka Lancashire Lad, for “keeping the faith” and staying in touch with everyone.

Forums have many advantages over Facebook. For one, Facebook owns all content (you sign it away when you tick the agree box) so they can use your photos and text as they like. On this site, I take no such liberties, copyright belongs to the user.

Secondly, there are no categories, such as ascomycetes, microscopy etc,

Thirdly, the lack of threading makes it tricky with lots of scrolling to find posts or topics more than a few days old.

Kind of went back to the original format, seems to be the preferred one. One limit to your suggestion – forums can either be “a forum” or a “category” – you can only display “categories” in a friendly list style on the home page. If you change say, “ID requests”, to a forum (think sub-forum), it only appears when you click the parent. However, you can’t post directly to a category, unlike a forum.

I increased the file attachment size to 400k.

Well, they’re not simply fungi either which is why I gave them their own forum… o far, 0 posts have been made in those forums, so I think it is in danger of getting over-complicated, but keep coming with ideas!

Ok, created some new top level forums, trees, flowering plants (except trees), non-flowering plants, lichens, and moved the website discussion and off-piste forums to top level also.
