An item on the radio news today made depressing listening. Seen yesterday - trees which had been left to grow in a roadside hedge close to the West Yorkshire / South Yorkshire border, clearly doomed:

And a close look at the culprit - so strange as fungi which look so similar (and are indeed closely related) are harmless saprobes
