Lovely shot of the 'Flames' Mike - it would seem the dry spell followed by this wet spell might have helped it as appearing in other places too!

Not formally named yet - provisionally Trichopeziza limonipilosa ined.

A great find, expertly determined, Chris. - And a superb macro shot to boot!

This has now been seen by Hans-Otto Baral the operculate discomycete maestro: http://www.ascofrance.com/forum/68777/t ... monipilosa, and while it is clearly a Trichopeziza
it is not "limonipilosa"; this is a confused area.

Stacked images of the spermatia and aecia of the rust Gymnosporangium sabinae; look out for it on pear trees - as you can see it's pretty obvious at this time of year.

Great stuff, Chris.

That second image is spectacular!

If I recall correctly, Gymnosporangium sabinae is allegedly not all that common in the north-west of England.

But it appears every year on a pear tree in my sister's garden.

Regards,
Mike.

Superb images, one I haven't seen but a friend has photographed one in her garden in Stoke on Trent, one to see for sure. :)

The move to Shropshire has proved fruitful, best find so far, Ballerina Waxcap, Porpolomopsis calyptriformis found on Brown Clee Hill.

Chris
I was up in Northampton this week at a funeral and noticed it in a garden in West Hunsbury but it's not on my neighbour's pear tree in South Devon
