Recorded at Ainsdale Sand Dunes Reserve. For many years this was identified as Morchella elata. Kew requested a specimen and after DNA sequencing declared it to be Morchella pupurascens.

Defying the books, which imply that it's rare outside woodland, and not usually found in ruderal sites, c.40 of these little beauties at various stages - spotted while walking back from Lidl, by the central ring road in Huddersfield! In mossy soil between a rough lawn and a low wall.

Dissoderma contortipes

Shown alongside D. paradoxum, also prevalent at the site.

This one parasitises Galerina, probably pumila.
The stouter one, paradoxum, parasitises Cystoderma amiamtheum. As does pearsonii which I saw last year.

A nice find of Cuphophyllus ledidopus - Scalyfoot Waxcap
In sheep grazed pasture near Rochdale.
This young one has much clearer scales than I have seen before.
