I'm wondering what folk think about this for Nesothele hymenogonia, found on a clint above Nateby in the Pennines.
A rather non-descript browny grey hard-to-discern/ endolithic thallus.
Black perithecia (0.5mm diameter) scattered, and barely immersed.
The hymenium appears (to me) to have algae within it. Cells up to 6.4um x 3.2um.
Asci 8 spored.
Spores: muriform, c22-27um x 12.5um. Have a tendency towards being a bit brown.
I think the algae make it a Staurothele s. lat and other bits make Nesothele hymenogonia the most likely, but the algae length to width ration seem a bit big and the spores a little small.
Many thanks
Pete
