Hyalorbilia inflatula?

Post by Chris Johnson » Tue Jun 02, 2020 2:47 pm

I thought this might be Hyalorbilia inflatula, growing on rotten Fagus wood but the spores are a little on the long size.
6.1–8.5 x 0.9–1.2 µm. No bluing in Melzer's.
What do others think?

The spore size is more or less consistent with measurements quoted on Zotto Baral's Google Drive website (see here if you're feeling brave)...

Thanks Paul.

Knowing the extent of Zotto's website, I entered with trepidation ... and with good reason. :?

All the best, Chris

Looks OK to me - it's not an uncommon fungus.

The first two parts of Zotto's Orbiliomycetes monograph are out - well actually it's very much a trial beta-version sent out to those who have helped him in the past. Accordingly, I have received the links, downloaded the files, and have reduced the file size considerably using high standard OCR software without any appreciable drop in resolution. I'm not sure whether Hyalorobilia has been dealt with yet - these are massive pieces of work. I am prepared to Dropbox the files to people if they PM me their email addresses (always treated as confidential) and treat Zotto's files as for personal use and very much not the final article(s).

Thanks Chris

I feel I should request Zotto's files from you but will probably need to lie down afterwards!

Regards, Chris
