Identify the mushroom on a Goat Willow tree SALIX

Please try to include photos to show all parts of the fungus, eg top, stem, and gills.
Note any smells, and associated trees or plants (eg oak, birch). A spore print can be very useful.

Identify the mushroom on a Goat Willow tree SALIX

Post by MaNdElRiSkAn » Tue Apr 27, 2021 5:54 pm

Hi there
I wonder if you can help me to identify this muhsroom for me. I found these today in Sweden (Söderhamn, Hälsingland), on a Goat Willow tree (Salix) on a grassy field along with broadleaved trees near a brook. They were growing on one of the dead/old branches of the tree. What do you think? Is it possibly to identify this? Could this be Amyloporia sinuosa or Leucogyrophana mollusca? What do you think? / Andreas

Hi and welcome to the forum.
As far as I can see your first suggestion is none UK and the second is very rarely recorded so I think it is unlikely you will get a confirmation from just these photos. Leucogyrophana mollusca supposedly prefers conifer logs so a pointer away from your find.
Sorry to be so negative.

Hi Adam I did notice that but as not many of us foray in Sweden I didn’t expect many members on here to have experience of the species.
