Parmotrema robustum?

Post by JennyS » Tue Sep 24, 2019 11:15 am

Four different thallii from Co. Limerick, Ireland on a wooden table and chairs that had been in a small orchard for 30+ years - but I had no books or chemicals with me and unfortunately didn't collect specimens!

Could they be Parmotrema robustum?

Jenny

I have only seen this species once, when it looked really different. Partly it was just very very big, but also the soralia are distinct. From the LGBI
soralia sparse, rounded and often clustered on small extensions of the incised lobe margins
The two pictures I have from Coed Crafnant:

From my limited experience I would think your material is most likely to be Parmotrema perlatum, if it was young poorly developed material or Parmotrema robustum that would need spot tests to confirm.

Thanks Neil, I just thought it worth asking as those thallii just looked larger and a bit different but no specimen or measurements
