Myxo on Oak leaf
Came across this myxo on an oak leaf today and wondered whether identification (at least to genus) might be possible? Surface was powdery / granular, stipe absent, spore diameter 10 µm. Externally it looked similar to Mike's image of Badhamia macrocarpa but I'm totally ignorant when it comes to slim...

Re: Perithecia in slits on Oak
Thank you for the reply Paul - I did look at Chaetosphaeria ovoidea but had discounted it as the perithecia appeared to be erumpent rather than superficial. Below is an image of the ascus tip that I hope might help - I tried with both Lugols and K+Lugols to see if there was a blue reaction but appea...

Perithecia in slits on Oak
Its been a while since I've looked at microfungi and I'm already struggling! Multiple perithecia in slits in a fallen oak branch, spores hyaline, 3-septate, 17-22 x 5-6 µm. Paraphyses present, asci without croziers. Help appreciated - but am I missing something obvious in Ellis & Ellis? z Q1 190312 ...

Re: Opegrapha atra
Many thanks for the list Mark.
General question - might it be worth submitting a request for a separate Lichenicolous Fungi section as it could be really useful to keep these posts together for easier searching and reference?

Re: Cladonia macilenta or polydactyla
Hi Christine -they look like the sort of Cladonia I'd avert my eyes from and try and find more mature specimens! Alan Silverside said when testing for a K reaction it is best to test the lower portion of the podetia as apothecia and pycnidia of all red-fruited Cladonia species give K+ red to purple ...

Lichenicolous fungus on Aspicilia calcarea
I wondered if anyone might be familiar with this lichenicolous fungus found on Aspicilia calcarea at Portland, Dorset in March 2016? Very small perithecia(?) along edges of areoles and under the microscope there appeared to be superficial strands of black hyphae (10 um wide) present. The spores were...
