Hi there, Inonotus hispidus is quite often found on Ash trees, do you have any pictures of the cap?

These are known as Peziza, a large genus of saprophytic cup fungus..They grow on the ground or rotting wood. I would say they are quite safe if left alone and shouldn't cause any problems for your dogs. Microscopy would be required to correctly identify this type of fungus.

Re: Amanita sp
It has the look of A.excelsa but the smell of raw potatoes points to A.citrina. It's a shame there weren't any mature samples nearby.

Identification please
Hi, These photos were sent to me with limited details. Found on a lawn. I think possibly one of the Entolomas. Identification would be much appreciated. Sorry for the sparse information.

Hi, was the top of the bracket velvety? Inonotus hispidus is usually found on Ash and apple.Sometimes you can see older, darker remains from previous years on the tree or ground nearby. Mid to late Summer is a good time to spot them before they decay and fall to the ground later on in the year.

Re: Manchester Fungi ID request
Good photo's but it would be useful to know what type of tree it's growing on as most bracket fungi are host specific. This does look like , Dadaleopsis confragosa, the Blushing Bracket usually found on Salix ( willow ).

Possible Pholiota carbonaria for i.d. please.
Hello, A friend found this fungus yesterday and I wondered if it could be Pholiota carbonaria. The only problem I have is the spore size doesn't match up and it was not on burnt ground, just grass. Details below. Thank's in advance.

I know, I know.Possible Cortinarius
Hello, I know, I know, Cortinarius can be a nightmare for the beginner but I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Found at the base of Quercus, from the spores I am thinking C. splendens or C. oreanus, details below. Thank you.
