Re: Cladonia sp

. . . RBG Edinburgh produced a cheapish one for fungal spore prints, but I don't think it is available any more. . . Hi, Just browsing the site and happened to spot your comment. The spore colour chart you mention, (originally published in 1969), is actually still in print. - Available from several...

Re: Odd looking hoof fungus

Hi, I'm tempted to suggest Ganoderma applanatum (Artist's Bracket), although your fruit bodies are, (in Ganoderma lifespan terms), still very young and small, and more confident identification would need larger, more mature fruitbodies (and/or microscopy). My reasoning for suggesting G.applanatum, i...

Re: I think these are

. . . I have read them… no I’m not planning on eating them . . . I will give you the benefit of the doubt!! ;) :D - but I hope you can see where my concerns came from. - Several identical large fruitbodies on what potentially looks like it could be a kitchen worktop, and someone asking whether they...

Re: Odd looking hoof fungus

Hi, and welcome to the UK Fungi website. You fungus is one of the Ganoderma species, but I think it would be impossible to get a confident ID at this stage with photographs alone. Probably best to keep an eye on its progress and take more photos "as and when". Good, well focussed, close up...

Hi Mark, I just spootted a post on the British Mycological Society Facebook page, with a photo of a Yew aril with what looks to be a very similar fungus attack to that shown in your photos: - https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10163382929892627&set=gm.10159075258996619&idorvanity=188437416...

Re: Yew fungus

Hi Mark, I think this is still flying under the radar (after 30+ views) because no one has any ideas on what it might be. I was hoping that someone like Paul Cannon may have spotted the topic and might possibly have had suggestions. I've had a look through my books and can't find anything that might...

Re: Bisporella citrina (re Dacrymycetaceae post)

Hi Bob,

With this colour and their overall general macro looks, I'd be more than happy to identify them as Bisporella citrina without even considering microscopy.
They look spot on.

Regards,
Mike.
