Tomentella laterita
Tomentella laterita, collected Grass Wood, North Yorks, 22/10/22. Keyed out in Koljalg (1996). I often find attempts to determine Tomentella species frustrating with only a fraction seeming to key satisfactory. With vivid brick red colour this one considerably easier

Re: Exidiopsis calcea query
Hi Mal, From description and images this does look like Exidiopsis calcea. I have two collections of E. calcea, both with spores to 18-20 long, width 5-7.5. Oil drops also noted in both collections. In several seperate collections of E.effusa, spores never reaching these dimensions. Cystidiols can b...

Re: Resinicium?
Hi Steve,
Looking at your images and measurements, Resinicium furfuraceum looks a good fit, with halocystidia, lack of astrocystidia, spore size and clamps. Basidia for R. furfuraceum much smaller than R. bicolor, at 10-12, according to Fungi Europaei 12, so may not be obvious.

Re: Teifi Marshes - Crust species?
Without recourse to microscopy difficult to ID with any certainty. Initial impressions are of one of the Stereum species. The trunk appears to be that of a conifer from image posted. If so Stereum sanguinolentum most obvious candidate. When damaged/scratched Stereum sanguinolentum will exude red jui...
