    Hi,

Here’s a Slime which we found at Longshaw, Derbys, on 29 July, on a mossy stump. It reminded me of one of the horrible puddings we had at school in the 60’s – sago or tapioca I think 😄 https://www.tumblr.com/search/sago%20pudding I don’t know whether it’s possible to ID from this presumably plasmodial stage, but any suggestions would be good,

    Cheers,

    Steve

      Hi Steve,

Not possible to give much more than a best guess at this stage of growth, but a couple of the Stemonitis species do look like that when just beginning to morph from plasmodium into individual sporocarps.

      Regards,

      Mike.

      Thanks Mike,

I didn’t want to pick the whole thing to try to grow it on as I know is possible. I did get a stunning growth of Physarum album which had been ā€œincubatingā€ in a plastic box in the garden for several months. The slime had spread onto the surface of the water and was starting to form sporophores there. However, only the part of the plasmodium on the wood successfully developed.

      Cheers,

      Steve

We found something ‘similar’ to your first photos but on conifer ? twigs on Glamorgan Fungus Group Foray on Saturday – we decided we hadn’t seen it!
