Hello, I found this fungus on a grassy path that is kept mown on a regular basis and wondered if I am close with thinking it could be Panaeolus foenisecii. The spores were rather odd i.e. pac man shaped and there were unusual gills, maybe deformed or underdeveloped. Any help would be much appreciated.Apologies for the poor photos and microscopy. I am in the process of doing something about that. 1. Found in Parkland on grassy path
2. Cap : Chocolate brown, Hygrophanous, smooth. 24mm across. Older samplehas cracked cap and is 30mm across
3. Stipe : Smooth, cream but darker towards the base, fibrose, flattened at the cap and slightly twisted towards the base.55mm x 5mm
4. Gills : Chocolate, crowded, adnate
5. Smell : Slightly mushroomy
6. Spore Print : Brown
7.Spores : Pac man/lemon pip shaped. 14.4 x 9.4

Did the spores have a roughened surface? I can’t see from the photo. “Pac-man” 😆 – those are spores that have broken apart, usually a sign of thin walls.cheers, Adam

Mike.

Maybe? You should always look at small spores like these with oil immersion!
