    Hi,

I found this powdery mildew by a stream in the Longshaw Estate, Peak District. I’m keen to add to the very meagre list of mildews and rusts of this site – the fungi records are dominated by grassland mushrooms and toadstools. I didn’t recognise this plant, but I suspect it may be Lactuca (eg Wall Lettuce) or maybe Lapsana (eg Nipplewort) – I may have to wait until it forms flowers. I’m tempted to record it as Golovinomyces cichoracearum but without cleistothecia I probably ought to call it Oidium.

    Hi Steve

yes it is the anamorphic (Oidium) stage of G. cichoracearum on wall lettuce Mycelis muralis.

    cheers

    Chris

PS as we start to move into summer (at least theoretically 🙄 ) I’m happy to advise on any powdery or downy mildew queries you or others may have . . .
