Fungus on Liverworts

I found this lovely little fungus on some liverworts growing epiphytical on Sphagnum papillosum in a valley bog I was monitoring in the New Forest, which I had collected to check which Cephalozia species I had in the quadrat.

It formed neat little black perithecia with projecting hyphae on Cephalozia connivens and Kurzia paucifolia:

On Cephalozia connivens, with brown hyphae attaching to the liverwort.

The spores were distinctive sub-muriform, pale brown 22 – 27 x 8 – 10µm.

I was going to ask how to identify it, but looking at the Bryophilous Fungi website https://bryophilous.co.uk” class=”bbcode_url”>https://bryophilous.co.uk it seems to be Pleostigma jungermannicola; neat!
