    Hi,

This one I mistook for insect eggs on a bit of grass at Longshaw. I sent Sally away with it but John recognised as a Myxo.

The slimy contents and bright orange tough skin matured after 4 days of incubation to a black spore mass with a lime-like pseudocapillitium, with a brittle black peridium. I couldn’t see any columella, and the “stalk” is very unimpressive.

Am stuck on this as I can’t seem to get hold of a nice-to-use myxo book.

    Any help much appreciated,

    Steve

      Thanks very much Mike,

That is excellent – yet another one for the Longshaw list :D

      It’s a cracking little Myxo,

Always expect the unexpected when you go looking for fungi!
