I was fortunate to get on a trip to Mingulay http://www.cucaera.co.uk/grp/?refs=NL56 ... 4597167969 this week and, although the time was all too short, I found a few rusts and smuts. The outer Hebrides have been pleasantly dry for a few weeks so I didn't expect to find any macro fungi. This is the least recorded in Scotland.

Re: Urocystis violae
Hi Chris,
I came across a galled Viola odorata (Sweet Violet) leaf and was searching for images of Urocystis violae when the images on this post popped up!
The fungus seems less developed on my specimen but the spore balls look very similar, and the sizes matched: Comments appreciated!

Hi Jenny
Looks fine for Urocystis violae. Was this from Dorset? if so it could well be a new VC record. FRDBI has 186 records, many with a grid.ref yet the NBN Atlas shows only 4 dots . . . .

I gave up on the NBN a long time ago for distribution details..........

Re: Urocystis violae
Out of interest I've extracted the FRDBI (old style) and CATE2 grid references and produced this distribution map, using DMAP. From time constraints I haven't chased up grid ref's from records which don't give them in FRDBI but where the site name might make that possible.

Nice record, Jenny. I also barely look at NBN - it was better before the revamp.
