I signed it now too. One thing that occurred to me was about the environmental "set aside" payments. The objections to these are they are too fixed. For example, an organic beef farmer I know (and mycologist) with a SSSI meadow, wanted to cut earlier this year because of a lot of yellow rattle ie before seeds drop but the payment is only given if ithe hay isn't cut until some date in July. It doesn't need to be cut early every year, but a lot of yellow rattle reduces grass yield ands this year, with such a dry June, yield was already down. The meadow is very florally diverse (as yellow rattle is often added to people starting meadows to encourage biodiversity, but you cna have too much of it) The other complaint I've heard is that the schemes are very late in paying out.

I expect there will be problems because a "one size fits all" never does.
But it's a good start.
Now that Wales and England have diverged that may create other problems especially along the borders.
However I'm surprised that the Wildlife trusts haven't plugged this more on their social media .
