Puccinia sessilis - On Ramsons

Post by Lancashire Lad » Wed May 13, 2015 6:32 pm

Found locally last weekend, growing on live leaves of Ramsons - Allium ursinum.
Typical Aecidial stage (Stage I) of this rust, and quite common at the moment.
Pale, yellowish, and generally circular spots on upper leaf surfaces will suggest the presence of aecidia.
Aecidia forming as typical "cluster-cups" within these pale affected sections, on the abaxial surface of the leaves.

Hi Mike,

I have been seeing masses of Puccinia sessilis this year in my woods but hadn't had a chance to examine microscopically.
None at Beacon Park where we're going later today.

By the way, the photos on this website are not displaying for me !

Kind regards,

John
