Cronartium quercuum?

Post by Steve » Sun Sep 10, 2017 4:30 pm

Hi,
This was quite common on cupules of sessile oak in a Sheffield woodland. The spores are around 10 x 8 um. I don't have much info on the various stages of the only rust I can find information on re oak ie Cronartium quercuum. Google images doesn't help. There is one record from Wales 1999 of C. quercuum on pedunculate oak, usually it is on leaves.
Is this a new rust for Yorkshire?

Nice one Adam, there is a good image on East Glamorgan Wildlife website: "Oak Rust Mystery".
No records of this for SW Yorks on the FRDBI database.
Cheers,
Steve
