Myxo on dead Hogweed stem

Post by Wood Wanderer » Tue Oct 03, 2017 6:24 pm

Quite understand if I am asking the impossible and usually would not even try to get to even a general ID for a myxo but ...??

Found these growing at the base of a dead Hogweed stem in a damp meadow and wondered if they were likely to be close to the Comatrichia genus

Any thoughts out there

Kind regards

John

Hi John

It's certainly a good possibility.

If you have good specimens, I'd be happy to ID them for you.

Kind regards,

John

Hi John

Thanks for your kind offer of attempting an ID, my specimen is still in good condition and I would be pleased to accept your help.

Can you pm me your address and also remind me how to pack the fragile looking myxo

Kind regards

John

Hi,

this is Comatricha tenerrima, which I have found many, many times on herbal stems and grasses, too.

Hi Marja

Many thanks for your help, at least I managed to correctly get to genus level .....

Having lost the opportunity to have my specimen looked at by John (Pitufo) I had given up on this find so thanks again

Kind regards

John
