Tube like asco with concave top ?

Post by Wood Wanderer » Thu Mar 30, 2017 6:58 pm

Hi all

I assume these are an asco species but am struggling to get to a genus, originally thought they might be immature Neobulgaria but now think not, growing on fallen twigs under oak, alder and spruce in a damp area covered in moss, quite small at less than 0.5 cm high. Tube like with a distinct concave top and a pore like stem which looks vaguely morel like.

Have tried the very unscientific approach of trawling through my limited asco literature but nothing seems to fit ?

Can anyone offer a direction for further study ? :?

The small sample that I collected has not changed that much in the past few days, apart from getting slightly larger ....

Regards

John

Hello,

its very likely Cudoniella tenuispora, which I have seen like that in young stage.
They won't mature outside of their biotope, or you put them in an aquarium may be ;-)

best regards,
Andreas

I agree with Andreas - compare with: http://www.gobice.com/?action=details&gid=13096

Many thanks Andreas and Chris, as ever you appear to be quite correct :)
