Any idea where to start with this prolific, small brown fungi?

Please try to include photos to show all parts of the fungus, eg top, stem, and gills.
Note any smells, and associated trees or plants (eg oak, birch). A spore print can be very useful.

Any idea where to start with this prolific, small brown fungi?

Hi All,

I've been trying to figure out what these guys are but I'm not sure of a good starting point. I have one on white paper to try to get a spore print.

Just to add, they are growing along a wall, on some ivy and on a dead tree stump of some sort. The stems are very thin and they are a very delicate little cap that falls apart really easily.

Edit: I think I might need to start looking under mycena?

Thanks for all your help.

Lisa

Fairy inkcap - Coprinellus disseminatus

Always try to show a gill shot, especially when you have so many to choose from. White gills would suggest Mycena, black gills (and black spore print) --> Fairy Inkcap.

Ah sorry, I do have one sitting on paper right now trying to get a spore print. I'll make sure I hold off until I have all the info next time.
